Is the Stradivarius Zither two octave?
And, please tell me what wood it is made of.
    Thank you,

      Hello Judy!

The Stradivarius, like all our other lap harp zithers, are two octaves. They are tuned in the key of G Major to go along with the music arrangements in the World of Harmony Music Books, but they can be tuned to other keys upon request. The Stradivarius Zither is made with a solid Curly Maple frame and backboard. The face board of this zither is made with Cedar.

Hello. I have a zither which I purchased used from another company. It is missing about half of its wires. Could I purchase wire from you?
    Thanks

      Hi Melissa!

We have a zither tuning pack available on our store page. It contains a tuning wrench, music pick and music wire. We can make sure there is enough music wire in your pack to restring your zither.

    Hello,
I’d like to order a few instruments are my family but am wondering if it’s possible to get a small robot painted on one. My one child will be thrilled with the fairy design but the other is much more mechanically inclined 🙂
    Thanks!

      Hello Chelsea!

We currently have the designs available which are displayed on our website. The blue, green or red Southern Pine zithers have been very popular with young boys. Our dragonfly design is very popular with boys too, especially the cinnamon one!

Hi, I am interested in buying one of your zithers. In your gallery you have a photo of six zithers in a circle. The ones at the five o’clock and nine o’clock positions have grain patterns that I like; just plain lines going straight across, with no knots or significant curves I don’t know what kind of wood it is. Can you make me one with a grain pattern on the front and the back that is similar to the ones from that photo? I would also want it to have a medium to dark stain on it and want the mountain rose pattern on it. Is this doable?

      Good Morning Denise,

We’ll be happy to create a Mountain Rose Zither for you! Though every piece of wood is unique in appearance, the Poplar wood we use for this Mountain Rose Zither tends to have a simpler grain pattern and we always use a warm dark stain for it. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

This is just a Thank You for your great customer service. Our young daughter recently emailed you concerning a broken string on one of our zithers. She didn’t tell me as she was trying to surprise me with a new string. I was so surprised and grateful when strings and new picks arrived. I will definitely be telling others about your kindness and hopefully have more business for you soon.

    Sincerely,

Any chance of having a Tree of Life on a zither? I recently saw a Celtic Tree of Life that would look amazing.on a zither. I have provided a link in the Website space below.

      Merry Christmas!

Thank you for your inquiry! We have considered Celtic designs, including Tree of Life design, for our zithers. I am hoping to create some original work this year. We’re careful not to use work created by other artists out of respect for copyright. Please continue to visit our website and like us on Facebook and Instagram. Hi Bill and Liza, I am so looking forward to getting these two zithers from you. One’s for my wife and the other’s for me. I’ve really enjoyed playing the selection of songs by Debbie Center from her World of Harmony and when I visited her site and found you….HAPPY DAY!! I’ve purchased over the last few years, several different lap harps and haven’t been real happy in terms of them staying in tune being a player of lots of string instruments, not alot of projection in tone or volume…really excited about the skill and workmanship you put into these Bill. Thank you

    Hello Liza and Bill,
I received my zither 2 days ago and love playing it!! I need to tune the first two strings .. after looking online i see that a tuner is used to callibrate the strings. I’ve not had any succes with trying it “by ear” and fear breaking a string. Please can you tell me if i may purchase any tuner? I assume it would have to be just for the zither?… also would any tuner work for our (your) zithers? Where would be the best place to purchase a tuner?

Please and thanks so much… I don’t want to not be able to play my zither for very long. Thanks for a quick response, if possible!
    Debbie

I found you on Youtube as I am attempting to retune a zither for a student.
it is a “la Cetra Magica de luxe Junior Zither. It’s at least 50 years old.
I need 15 strings (at least) . The existing gauge is thinner than what I could find online.

I believe all the original strings are the same gauge. The lowest pitch is to be “C” but I am experimenting with the thicker gauge wire and tuning the lowest/longest string to “G.”

I’m sure I’ve given you much more info than you need or desire. Let’s start with an order of strings. What is the price of each string?

    Thanks.

      Good Morning Tim,
We use 0.014 gauge for the bottom G string and the middle G to upper G strings on our instruments. We use 0.016 gauge for the lower A to lower F#. We can send you enough music wire to restring your zither for $5.00 plus $2.00 shipping & handling.

    Hi,

I am contemplating the purchase of a zither and am wondering how the wood of which it is made affects the sound. Thanks for addressing this very basic question.

      Hello Marian!
The woods we use are all solid woods found in the Appalachian region: Southern Pine, Poplar, Cherry and Oak. Cherry and Oak are the harder of these woods and some listeners may hear a slightly brighter sound from them. Most customers have not heard any difference at all when the instruments are played side by side. We’ve chosen these four woods because they make beautiful (and beautiful sounding), sturdy instruments that will last for generations. Thank you for your inquiry! Please let us know if we can answer any other questions.

Someone gave me a lap harp. I think it is made by
HearthSong. Where can I get strings?
What make and size should I get ?
I live in Philly. The guitar store would not give me too much information.
I have been to Debbie Carter’s website many times
I would appreciate any information you can email me.
    Thank you.

Do you sell and ship to Canada? I would imagine the zithers wood would pass the untreated wood restriction at border customs. John Hurst
